  • Access a range of self-help tools to help you with your wellbeing.

  • Track your wellbeing over time.

  • View information on organisations who can offer further support.

MeT4VeT has been developed by the King’s Centre for Military Health Research in collaboration with key stakeholders of veterans’ mental health care and veterans. By using this app you’ll help us understand what we can do further to improve the app to help more veterans with their mental health.

FAQ

What is the King's Centre for Military Health Research?

The King’s Centre for Military Health Research, King’s College London, is the leading civilian UK centre of excellence for military health research. Independent of the Ministry of Defence and chain of command, our research has provided much-needed evidence on the health and well-being of serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.

Our research relates to conflict and health, occupational psychiatry, and personnel issues and social policy. We conduct research in four main areas:

  • Serving personnel;

  • Ex-serving personnel;

  • Military families, including those of ex-serving personnel;

  • Interventions.

How do I download the app?

The app isn't available to the public yet. We are looking for individuals to test it to see if the app is acceptable and feasible. If you would like to take part in this research and test the app, please email met-vet@kcl.ac.uk

What will I be asked to do if I take part?

If you decide to take part in the trial, you will be allocated to one of two groups each of which will get a different app.

What you will be asked to do varies slightly depending on the app you are asked to download. However, with both apps, we will ask you to complete a short (about 20 minutes at most) survey in the app asking you some questions about your background and your wellbeing. We will ask you to complete this again one month later and for the last time two months later.

We will also ask some of the people who are taking part in the study to agree to a telephone interview (which we expect to last up to an hour) to explore your thoughts on whatever app you have been asked to download.

Who is eligible to take part?

To take part, you need to be:

  • Male

  • Own a smartphone

  • Served at least 2 years in the UK Armed Forces

  • Left the UK Armed Forces within the last 2 years OR have recently left

  • Not currently be in mental health treatment (i.e. therapy).

If you meet the above criteria, please go to the eligibility survey to see if you meet the further requirements.

Will I be reimbursed for my time?

Yes, we will give you up to £40 in Amazon Vouchers if you take part.
